Margaret is a Southerner visiting Florence, Italy, with her adult daughter, Clara. She is refined, confident, and practical. Her maternal love is solid but presents as over-protectiveness because of her strength. She has an emotionally distant husband back in the states, so when her daughter falls in love, she has to challenge her own perception of romance. Margaret is equal parts caring and fearsome.

Clara is Margaret’s 26-year-old daughter on vacation with her in Florence. She is vivacious, curious, and just as strong-willed as her mother. This does not mean she has lost her faculties, but instead, they are colored with a child’s blunt observational skills, curiosity, and hopefulness. Her view on life and love is refreshing and moving.

Fabrizio sings and speaks Italian, and has a heavy dialect when speaking English.
