Audition song suggestions for the character Campbell Davis (mezzo)
At Truman High School, Campbell has a picture-perfect life as the captain of the cheerleading squad who is leading her team to National Championship victory. Her world is turned upside down when she is transferred to Jackson High, without her friends and without a cheerleading team. Being the resourceful, determined leader she is, she quickly manages to turn the Jackson High dance squad into a fierce competitor at the National Championship. Her biggest lesson in this play is not winning at all costs, but instead how to support and care for your friends (old and new) so that everyone wins.
“Brave” by Sara Bareilles
Audition song suggestions for the character Danielle (mezzo)
Danielle is the head of the Jackson High dance team, who is reluctant to trust people like Campbell who obviously come from a place of privilege and opportunity. She is hard-working, undeterred, and cautious. Over time, Campbell earns Danielle’s trust, and the two join forces to take Jackson’s first cheerleading squad to the National Championship.
“Fabulous, Baby!” from Sister Act

Mr. Harry MacAfee is the eccentric and excitable lense through which we see all the disruption Conrad Birdie’s arrival causes. As Kim’s father, he must navigate running a smooth household while Kim finds fame as the lucky teen who gets to kiss Conrad and consequently seeks independence. He and his wife Doris go from comically frustrated to cartoonishly exuberant when they realize they will get to go on The Ed Sullivan Show.
“Brand New You” from 13 the Musical
Audition song suggestions for the character Eva (soprano)
Campbell’s neighbor, and the newest member of the Truman High cheer team. At first glance, Eva is a freshman sponge, full of admiration and ready to soak up the glory of cheer like she has dreamed of since she was a girl. We later find out that in order to reach her full potential, she uses beguiling and harmful tactics to climb the ladder of success on the team.
“When Will My Life Begin” from Tangled
Audition song suggestions for the character Bridget (soprano)
Bridget is transferred from Truman to Jackson just like Campbell, but makes a very different transition. The students at Jackson High are far more accepting and treasure her positive attitude, her size, and her dance skills, all of which were objects of criticism at Truman. She blossoms in this new setting, and even finds a romance in Twig, a student at Jackson.
