You might be a recently graduated senior in high school or a professional actor who’s trying to get back into the business after a long hiatus. Maybe you’re a high school senior with an interest in testing the waters theatre outside the bounds of your drama department. If you’re looking for local auditions, try these five tips for finding audition notices in your area.

1. Join a local Facebook group for actor auditions.

Search for your city in conjunction with “auditions” on Facebook, and you’re likely to find a few public groups you can join that will post upcoming audition opportunities for your area.

2. Follow the social media accounts of local theatres.

Theatres interested in finding actors for their upcoming shows will often post audition notices on their Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts. You can set up alerts in your preferences on every social media platform so you can see updates from those theatres first.

3. Visit the theatre’s website.

If there’s any place a theatre will have audition postings, it’s on its actual website. Research the theatres in your location like Shakespeare festivals, repertory theatres, community theatres, and independent production companies. Then, see if they have a website. Bookmark their homepage and check back every week for audition notices.

3. Attend an acting class or workshop.

Oftentimes, acting classes will produce a play of their own to showcase the talents and efforts of students who have taken the class. It’s also a great place to make connections and ask around about other local auditions or opportunities that may not be posted anywhere.
