Hey, Thespians! Are you searching for the perfect audition cut for your next audition at your school or professional repertory theatre? We’ve got ten from our collection that are sure to impress directors.
1. “Tell Her” from 13, The Musical
Patrice surprises Evan by helping him help Brett. However, instead of telling Brett what to say to Kendra, they end up telling each other that they are sorry, but Brett is oblivious to their schemes.
2. “Quiet” from Matilda
Matilda reflects on the building anger and pressure inside of her, which she must repress. Today, she has let her anger take control, and just as Matilda is near breaking down, her emotions suddenly turn to a sense of complete inner calm and control.
3. “Thirteen” from 13, The Musical
Twelve-year-old New Yorker Evan Goldman is about to have his Bar Mitzvah. He wants his party to be amazing, but it might end up being a disaster — his parents are getting a divorce.
4. “I Know Things Now” from Into The Woods
Little Red laments about things she knows now.
5. “Get Me What I Need” from 13, The Musical
When Archie’s attempts to guilt Evan into getting him the date with Kendra do not work, Archie tries to convince Evan that Evan is the only one who can get Archie the date with Kendra. If he doesn’t? Archie will show up to Evan’s Bar Mitzvah and ruin it.
6. “Bruce” from Matilda
As Bruce begins eating the giant chocolate cake, the rest of the students express concern which turns to jubilant support, and even Miss Honey joins them.
7. “Brand New You” from 13, The Musical
Jack sings about going into the sky and seeing new things.
8. “Giants In The Sky” from Into The Woods
The encore is performed to end the show to celebrate aging into teenage years.
9. “The Lamest Place in the World” from 13, The Musical
Evan becomes friends with his neighbor, Patrice. She develops a small crush on Evan while telling him about Appleton, Indiana.
10. “Naughty” from Matilda
Matilda is an avid reader and lives unhappily with her parents and her older, gormless brother Michael, so she begins to do naughty things to get back at her family.
11. “What It Means To Be A Friend” from 13, The Musical
Archie tries to convince Patrice into giving Evan a second chance, especially since she has a crush on him, but she has lost faith in him, and she’s still upset at what he’s done to her.
12. “Where Is Love” from Oliver
Oliver, alone in a basement and trying to fall asleep, dreams of someone loving him.
13. “I’m A Good Girl (Getting Ready)” from 13, The Musical
Evan makes Archie promise to do nothing more than sit next to Kendra so he doesn’t screw up Brett’s date. Archie agrees, and everyone prepares for Friday night.
14. “Alone In The Universe” from Seussical
Horton and Jojo, connected through time and space, sing about being alone in the universe.
15. “All Hail The Brain” from 13, The Musical
Evan says that his mother will not buy him and Brett tickets to an R-rated movie, but Brett points out that if she doesn’t, nobody will go to his Bar Mitzvah. Evan sorts through possible plans, eventually realizing that he will have Archie use his illness to guilt Evan’s mother.
