It has been four years since Edward managed to escape an island so terrible he learned that faking amnesia was much simpler than trying to convince anyone of the truth. The ship Edward was sailing on crashed and he was rescued by a man named Montgomery who was on his way back to an island with a large assortment of wild beasts from Africa. Edward had no choice but to accompany Montgomery to the island where he met Dr. Moreau, a scientist who moved to the island years before to conduct his experiments. Edward soon learned of the true horrors of Dr. Moreau’s work: that he was turning wild beasts into human like creatures. But no man can play God without meeting a terrible fate. Eventually, Dr. Moreau’s beast creatures became more animal than man, killing him and Montgomery. Edward was the only man who was able to escape the island. He now recounts the entire story to the audience.see less
