Playground is an exploration inside the mind of a small child whose life has fallen to pieces at an early age. Jason’s dad has recently left him and his mom, and fourth grade is tough as he is constantly bullied by the sixth graders on the playground. Jason attempts to keep to himself, and finds comfort in his imaginary friend Big John. Big John is a personification of the dad he wishes he still had, and although Big John does his best to cheer him up, just like his father, he also has the propensity to let Jason down.
