You Know You’ve Been Cast in a Musical When…
Written by Ashleigh Gardner
August 4, 2016
You freak out just a little bit.
Your collection of leg warmers and dance wear grows significantly overnight.
You research the show whenever you’ve got a break.
You listen to the soundtrack over and over and over again.
You blast that soundtrack in the car like you’re singing carpool karaoke with James Corden.
Your friends interrupt your mid-rehearsal Snapchat with musical numbers.
Your shower serenades last 20 minutes.
When you go out to eat with the cast, you sing numbers from the show.
You are #FIT when dance rehearsals start.
You dream about the show.
…or have nightmares about it.
But you just can’t wait for opening night.
Ashleigh Gardner received her AA in Theatre/Drama/Dramatic Arts from Valencia College and her Bachelors Degree in English Literature and Masters Degree in Literary, Cultural, and Textual Studies from the University of Central Florida. She is a playwright and an actor.
