Introducing…Cullen Douglas!

Ever say, “You know…THAT guy! The guy that played that one role in that one movie!?” And then you inevitably go to IMDB.com and look him up? That happens to Cullen a lot!  Allow us to introduce you to a man who really needs no introduction: actor, writer, director, teacher, and Performer Stuff playwright…Cullen Douglas!

Cullen’s career began on the stage!

And it’s that experience and his stellar acting skills that made it a no-brainer for casting directors to realize he would excel in TV/Film. Here’s Cullen backstage in Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at the New Stage Theatre.

You’ve seen him on Charmed, True Blood on HBO, CSI, and The Shield.

Cullen’s been seen in hit shows since his career in television began.

Other hit shows Cullen’s been in are CBS’s Criminal Minds and ABC’s smash hit, Scandal, along with Castle, The Mentalist, Psych, Major Crimes, Prison Break, and Deadwood. Above, Cullen can be seen in the Psych episode “Death is in the Air” (S4, E13) as Dr. Tony Mallon.

He’s in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

If you are a fan of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, you’ll remember Cullen as the evil recurring character, Edison Po. And for his performances on both Grey’s Anatomy (The Bird Man) and Private Practice, producers made the push for EMMY® consideration in the “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series” category.

Cullen stars in films on the big-screen, too!

Starring film roles include Andy in the thriller Shuttle, the mortician in The Possession of Michael King, Dr. Sickinger in Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective, and Vincent in The Wrong Side of Right.

Cullen is also an accomplished screenwriter. No joke!

As a writer, Cullen was the first recipient of the Humanitas Prize’s “New Voices” Initiative and was tapped by the Humanitas Organization to write and develop an hour-long television drama series with industry juggernaut Shonda Rhimes, with Cullen as student and Rhimes as master screenwriter.

He wrote the screenplay for Building Bridges, now in pre-production.

The film stars Cullen alongside Elizabeth Perkins, KaDee Strickland, and Scandal’s Jeff Perry. It’s directed by Scandal director, Tom Verica. Based on a true story, Building Bridges is a unique tale of loss, healing, acceptance, and relationships — a meditation on the resilience of the soul. Cullen wrote and co-directed the short film White Alibi, starring Joy Lofton and Cullen. (Co-directed by Harry Frishberg.)

He also co-wrote the film, Letters to God, now on DVD.

Cullen’s also an acclaimed playwright.

For the stage, Cullen wrote and starred in the acclaimed and award-winning solo play, Afraid to Look Down, which explored the journey he took in becoming a first-time father to a son born with Down syndrome.

In October 2016, catch Cullen in the CBS drama Pure Genius.

The new CBS medical drama television series Pure Genius was created by Jason Katims and stars Dermot Mulroney. Premiere is scheduled for October 27, 2016.

Cullen also appears in The Dog Lover, coming to select theatres on July 8th, 2016.

Cullen is also an acting teacher.
