Audition song suggestions for the character Juliet (mezzo)

Juliet may be a familiar face from the Shakespeare classic, Romeo & Juliet, but the plot of this musical explores what would happen if she hadn’t killed herself. Instead, Juliet travels to France with her nurse and two best friends, starting a new adventure and challenging societal norms and roadblocks along the way. This actor has a POWERFUL and versatile voice, and is able to make pop songs the ultimate story-telling vehicle. She is unafraid to put herself first and at the mercy of no man or gender expectation.

Audition song suggestions for the character Anne/April (mezzo)

Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare’s wife, is the driving force behind this great re-writing effort. She challenges her husband’s work and his own point of views by suggesting this new plotline and even writing herself into the play as “April,” Juliet’s friend. Anne is Juliet’s biggest champion and the reason we have a new female-driven story. Vocal inspirations include Celine Dion, Jessie J, Alanis Morisette.

Audition song suggestions for the character William Shakespeare (baritone)

The same old Bard that we all know and love, except this time around he has to contend with his wife’s outrageous ideas to rewrite the ending of his most famous play. He works tirelessly to keep the integrity of his original ending while Anne continuously interrupts with challenges to his story. Ultimately, he discovers that his life and this play is only made better by her additions and point-of-view. Vocal inspirations include Adam Levine and the Backstreet Boys.

Audition song suggestions for the character Francois (tenor)

Francois is a young Frenchman who lives a similarly “stifled” life as Juliet. He has been told he can either marry or join the military, but he finds both options extremely displeasing. Initially, he believes he is in love with Juliet after dancing at his ball. He soon realizes that he actually has stronger feelings for May, Juliet’s friend. He spends the rest of the play sorting out this triangle and hoping to be accepted by his father.
