David Valdes Greenwood’s plays have been presented across the US and in the UK. His work has been seen with the Huntington Theatre Company, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Portland Stage, New York Theatre Workshop, Actors Theatre of Charlotte, the Humana Festival, and others. In 2016, his comedy Raggedy And received its world premiere with Pride Films & Plays of Chicago and a second production in the Vermont Pride Festival, his drama Vow Keepers was presented in New York by IATI Theatre as part of a Cimientos Fellowship, Full Code received its world premiere with Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, and Mermaid Hour was workshopped at the Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte nuVoices Festival. Valdes Greenwood is a past Huntington Playwriting Fellow, Brother Thomas Artist Fellow, and a Sloan Commission recipient. He has won the Generations Prize for Playwriting, is a 2016 Eugene O’Neill finalist, and a 2015 ATHE Excellence in Playwriting Finalist. His full-length play Brave Navigator and short plays Day Eight: Snow Globe, Dream of Jeannie-by-the-Door, and Day Eight: Snow Globe are published by Samuel French. He has taught playwriting at Emerson College and at Tufts University, where he is a Lecturer in English. The author of three nonfiction books and a forthcoming series of Young Adult novels, Valdes Greenwood is developing his newest play, The Last Catastrophist, as a Company One PlayLab Fellow in Boston.
