Timothy Mooney, author of the acting textbook, "Acting at the Speed of Life; Conquering Theatrical Style" and the collection, "The Big Book of Molière Monologues," has given hundreds of thousands their first introduction to Moliere through his one-man play, "Molière Than Thou." Mr. Mooney is the former founder and editor of "The Script Review" and was the Artistic Director of Chicago's Stage Two Theatre, where he produced nearly fifty plays in five years. Eventually, Mr. Mooney found himself writing fun new rhyming variations of the plays of Molière. In the time since, Tim has composed seventeen hilarious verse versions, produced all over the United States and around the world, with most of them published by Playscripts, Inc. Some half-dozen high school productions of Mr. Mooney's adaptations, including "The Misanthrope," "The Miser," "The Imaginary Invalid," "The Learned Ladies" and "Tartuffe" have gone on to state finals competitions all over the U.S., while Tim’s "Doctor in Spite of Himself," took third place in the finals of the Scottish Community Drama Association National Festival. Mr. Mooney continues to present Moliere across North America, along with several other one-man plays, including "Lot o’ Shakespeare" (featuring one soliloquy from every Shakespeare play), "The Greatest Speech of All Time," "Criteria, a One-Man Comic Sci-Fi Thriller," and his newest one-hour Shakespeare adaptations "Breakneck Hamlet" and "Shakespeare’s Histories; Ten Epic Plays at a Breakneck Pace!" (both available, now, in book form, through various on-line resources, as well as Tim's website).
