Sometimes, you\u2019ll have more than one monologue. Maybe you\u2019ll be performing a one-man or one-woman show some day! You\u2019ll need to know how to tackle such a task, and luckily, we\u2019ve got some tips.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">1. Write your monologue out by hand at least seven times.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-2 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/1_memorize-wordy-monologues.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a proven method that writing your lines over and over and over helps you memorize them. Writing your lines repeatedly solidifies the words in your head and in your hands. If you speak your lines out loud while you write them, you\u2019ll increase the chance of memorizing them sooner.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">2. Circle or underline key words in your monologue.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-3 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/5_memorize-wordy-monologues.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If certain words trigger your memory for the next part of your monologue, then underline or circle them in your script so that you\u2019ll have a visual reminder when you memorize. Underlining and circling specific words and phrases also helps you remember <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exact <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">words and phrases instead of replacing written words with their synonyms or similar phrases.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">3. Use a phone app like LineLearner or Off Book.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-4 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/6_memorize-wordy-monologues.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes, staring and staring at your script doesn\u2019t do anything except give you a massive headache. Some people are visual learners (they learn by seeing words on the page repeatedly, especially if they have photographic memories), some people are kinesthetic learners (learning their lines better once blocking is established), and some people are auditory learners (they learn better by repeatedly hearing words). If you\u2019re an auditory learner, try using an app like LineLearner (on <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ba9bc9;\"><a style=\"color: #ba9bc9;\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.alldayapps.android.linelearner&amp;hl=en_US\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Google Play<\/b><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ba9bc9;\"><a style=\"color: #ba9bc9;\" href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/linelearner\/id368070258?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\"><b>App Store<\/b><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) or Off Book (on the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ba9bc9;\"><a style=\"color: #ba9bc9;\" href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/off-book\/id921046788?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\"><b>App Store<\/b><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Usually, these apps are used for scenes between two or more characters, but with monologues, you can record every other sentence as another character. You can switch between Character A and Character B to quiz yourself in the car, in the shower, or while you\u2019re on a jog.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">4. Analyze your monologues and identify each sentences\u2019 objectives.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-5 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/3_memorize-wordy-monologues.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lines are easier to memorize when you know the objectives behind them. Once you establish objectives, your brain will naturally connect with the scene, and the next line your character says will play that objective and the emotion that goes along with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">5. Color code your monologue for emotional beats.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-6 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/2_memorize-wordy-monologues.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This method is quite possibly my favorite because it involves two methods at once \u00a0\u2014 writing your monologues and analyzing objectives. Type your monologues out in a Word or Google Drive document (with the cue line before and the next line after), and then analyze the text for objectives while color-coding the words. (For example, if your monologue has a section in which the character is trying to make another person feel jealous, you might highlight that section green. If a section is trying to make another character feel appreciated, you might highlight this section yellow.) <\/span><\/p>\n<br>\r\n<br><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Need some advice?
