So you\u2019re about to graduate, or maybe you just graduated. With URTA, Summer Stock auditions, and SETC coming up in only a few months, you have <em>a lot<\/em> to prepare for. Do you fear that you\u2019re about to enter the theatrical job market but your resume is pretty lame? No worries, you\u2019ve done more than you think. (And if you&#8217;re looking to create a\u00a0<em>free<\/em> resume, look no further than <a href=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/resume\/builder\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ba9bc9;\"><strong>Performer Stuff&#8217;s resume builder<\/strong><\/span><\/a>!)<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Actors, you\u2019re up first!<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-2 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/1_How-to-Fatten-Up-Your-Theatrical-Resume.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Your resume should be listed in order of awesomeness \u2014 meaning, your <em>best and largest role<\/em> should be up at the top going down to the smallest role. Of course, there\u2019s no such thing as a small role, but being in the chorus of <em>The Music Man<\/em> in high school isn\u2019t quite as impressive as playing Sweeney Todd himself. Think about the acting classes you\u2019ve taken. Every scene and monologue counts as Studio Work. List the play in the left hand column and list the theatre in the far right hand column.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Technicians: your turn!<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-3 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3_How-to-Fatten-Up-Your-Theatrical-Resume.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Try to remember the work calls you\u2019ve done; think about the sets you\u2019ve built. Maybe you\u2019ve only been an ASM once or twice and then you got to House Manage a show that one semester. Did you help with any load ins or outs with a community theatre company? You can put <em>everything<\/em> you\u2019ve done under the Theatre Tech heading. List your show on the far left column, your position in the center column, and the theatre in the far right column.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Next on your resume is your Theatre Training.<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-4 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/5_How-to-Fatten-Up-Your-Theatrical-Resume.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">These can be classes you took for your theatre degree or masterclasses where you were evaluated and given constructive critique on a work you did, whether it be a monologue or a set piece. Scene Design, Sound Design, Props Building, Costume History, voice lessons, and acting classes absolutely count as part of your pre-professional training. List the classes that pertain to your immediate field of work, and list the skills you gained in other classes under your special skills.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">And nobody can forget about their special skills section!<\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-5 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/4_How-to-Fatten-Up-Your-Theatrical-Resume.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">These skills can be anything that you know will set you apart from the rest of the applicant pool. If your resume is incredibly light, however\u2014you may list Acting and Theatre Tech on the same page, followed by your training and special skills sections. As long as you have one full and solid page of experience, you\u2019ll look pretty beefed up.
