It’s quickly approaching — college audition season! And when you make it into the school of your dreams, you’ll need to quickly figure out how you’re going to pay for tuition, books, labs, leotards, dance shoes, and voice coaches. Lucky for you, we’ve got five scholarship opportunities below that the competitive thespian should check out immediately<\/p>\n

1. Young Arts<\/h4>\n
\"\"<\/span><\/div>

Deadline:<\/strong> October 13, 2017<\/p>\n

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) was established in 1981 by Lin and Ted Arison.\u00a0YoungArts\u2019 signature program is an application-based award for emerging artists ages 15\u201318 or in grades 10\u201312 from across the United States. Selected through a blind adjudication process conducted by an independent panel of highly accomplished artists, YoungArts Winners receive valuable support, including financial awards of up to $10,000, professional development and educational experiences working with renowned mentors\u2014such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Sarah Brightman, Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, Frank Gehry, Jeff Koons, Wynton Marsalis, Rebecca Walker and Carrie Mae Weems\u2014and performance and exhibition opportunities at some of the nation\u2019s leading cultural institutions.<\/p>\n

2. Educational Theatre Association Presidents’ Leadership Scholarship<\/h4>\n

Deadline:<\/strong> April 1, 2018<\/p>\n

The EdTA Presidents\u2019 Leadership Scholarship\u00a0was created with donations by, and in honor of, past and current EdTA board presidents. One applicant will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000 to be applied to tuition and fees associated with full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university.<\/p>\n

3. Irene Ryan Foundation Acting Scholarship<\/h4>\n

The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships provide recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding student performers wishing to pursue further education. The Irene Ryan Foundation awards sixteen regional and two national scholarships annually. One nominee and partner from every region will be invited to the national festival and the nominee will receive a $500 scholarship. The runner-up in each region will receive a $500 scholarship, but will not attend the national festival to audition for the national scholarship. Students and coaches are encouraged to consult their regional chair or regional Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions Coordinator for information on other regional awards. The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships are, indeed, scholarships; so the Foundation disburses the award through a school designated by the winner, to pay tuition and fees for further education, not necessarily limited to theatre arts.<\/p>\n

4. Rose Brand Scholarship Program<\/h4>\n

Designed to ensure that those who excel in set design and technical production are not overlooked when it comes to financial support, the Rose Brand Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 to undergraduate and graduate students who are seeking theatre careers by studying scenic design at an accredited U.S. university. Selection will be based on faculty recommendations, photographs\/descriptions of projects, essay responses, and expected promise as a theatre professional.<\/p>\n

5. Bob and Marti Fowler Future Theatre Educator Scholarship<\/h4>\n

Through the Educational Theatre Association, the Bob and Marti Fowler Future Theatre Educator Scholarship is awarded for $1,000 annually to an outstanding college student who is pursuing a theatre degree\u00a0at an approved U.S. institution full-time. Recipients must demonstrate leadership abilities, strong moral character, academic promise, organizational skills, experience in different aspects of theatre, and an excellent work ethic for being a member of a theatre production team.<\/p>\n
