There are few people in the industry that I have come across that are genuinely sweet, kind, and caring as Laura. \u00a0I first worked with her on Bonnie &\u00a0Clyde<\/em>, then produced her album Dream a Little Dream:\u00a0Laura Osnes Live at the Carlyle Room<\/em>, then again on Rodger\u2019s and Hammerstein\u2019s Cinderella<\/em>, \u00a0I voted for her many times on You\u2019re the One that I Want<\/em>\u00a0before ever meeting her, and I am so happy to see her yet again about to open a new show on Broadway.<\/p>\n \"\"<\/span>

Osnes was born in Burnsville, Minnesota, and raised in Eagan, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. Her first acting performance was in the second grade, where she played a munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. She attended Eagan High School. Laura attended the University of Wisconsin\u2013Stevens Point for one year as a Musical Theatre major, before dropping out to pursue a professional career.<\/p>\n

In 2005\u20132006 she returned to Minneapolis to be a performing apprentice at the Children\u2019s Theatre Company, performing in Working<\/em>, Aladdin Jr.<\/em>, Prom<\/em>, and Pippi Longstocking<\/em>. She also played the lead of Sandy in Grease<\/em> at the nation\u2019s largest dinner theatre, the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, but her run was cut short when she was chosen to compete in the nationally televised Broadway talent competition Grease: You\u2019re the One that I Want<\/em>!<\/p>\n \"\"<\/span>

Osnes was engaged to Nathan Johnson (as shown in the March 18, 2007 episode of Grease: You\u2019re the One that I Want!<\/em>), whom she met when both were understudies on Aladdin. They were originally planning to marry on March 24 and honeymoon in Aruba, but postponed the wedding so that she could participate in the competition. Because the schedule conflicted with March 25, 2007 episode, they rescheduled the wedding to May 11, 2007, and are now married and reside in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

She is currently working on Bandstand<\/em>, a new musical that opened on April 26th on Broadway. For the 2017 Tony Awards,\u00a0Bandstand<\/em>\u00a0received\u00a0two Tony nominations, one for\u00a0Best Choreography and one for Best Orchestrations.
