Female-centric shows, however, tend to feature women who are fighting to change a society that won&#8217;t accept them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These are powerful storylines that turn expectations about women&#8217;s weights,\u00a0attitudes, and lifestyles on their heads. While these roles have given and continue to give actresses an indispensible way to combat gender inequality, there are undoubtedly a few men out there who experience similar same societal pressures as these characters\u2014boys who could use a little girl power, Broadway-style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are the top 5 female leads from musicals we&#8217;d like to see genderbent:<\/p>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-2 hover-type-none\"> <img src=\"https:\/\/performerstuff.com\/mgs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/blog_5-Female-Genderbent-Roles.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><h4>5.\u00a0Ariel <em>(The Little Mermaid)<\/em><\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-3 hover-type-none\"> <img alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ariel spends her time on land trying to explore beyond her father&#8217;s close boundaries and meet the prince of her dreams. Tracy is an incredible role model for women and men who struggle with body image issues, and could help a few actors learn to love the skin they&#8217;re in!<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4>2.\u00a0Matilda Wormwood <em>(Matilda)<\/em><\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-6 hover-type-none\"> <img alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">As the bookish kid on the playground, I always related to Matilda\u2014but I wasn&#8217;t the only &#8220;revolting&#8221; child at my school! Imagine the joy any child would feel in having their interests and opinions validated&#8230; not to mention how cute a little brother Wormwood would be.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-one-full fusion-layout-column fusion-column-last fusion-spacing-yes section-body-post\" style=\"margin-top:;margin-bottom:;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\"><h4>1. Carrie White <em>(Carrie)<\/em><\/h4>\n<div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span style=\"border:1px solid ;\" class=\"fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-7 hover-type-none\"> <img alt=\"\" class=\"img-responsive\"\/><\/span><\/div><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Carrie presents a uniquely troubled character\u2014she was ostracized by her peers, terrorized by her mother, and ultimately was the victim of both her inner turmoil and the exterior tormentors that triggered it.
